This May, Hope through Housing is honoring the incredible mothers who inspire strength, resilience and love every day. We’re celebrating moms – who lead most of the homes in affordable housing communities – with flowers, sweet treats and gifts of gratitude.
At the more than 100 National CORE affordable housing communities we serve, some 65% of households are led by single moms. Hope through Housing is committed to supporting these hardworking and wonderful women. These include National CORE resident Julia, who fought her way out of homelessness to provide her children with a better life.
“Mothers do so much for their families and our communities, it’s important to celebrate and recognize them,” Sunset Heights service coordinator Stephanie Joseph said. “They deserve to feel appreciated and supported.”
At Sunset Heights, in Rancho Cucamonga, Stephanie organized a joyful afternoon filled with pie-making with the help of Traveling Tarts, a shared lunch and a reflective activity where women penned heartfelt notes to themselves.
“It was unexpected but super fun,” Sunset Heights resident Karina said. “It feels nice to be acknowledged.”
