Sandra Sigala spends her days helping residents locate resources, connecting those in need with emergency assistance and coordinating ways for Hope through Housing to meet their unique needs.
Although Metro View is her home base, Sandra also oversees Hope through Housing operations at five additional National CORE properties, including Renaissance Village, Citrus Grove, Vista Cascade and Crossings.
In total, as a services coordinator, Sandra serves 493 apartments – but there’s no counting the lives she has touched.
“Life has given me many lessons and it’s made me realize that I just need to be there for others,” she said. “This job allows me to do that, and I love it. I could not be happier.”
Sandra’s journey to Hope began in 2022, when she became a resident at Olive Meadow. She and her family became deeply involved with the nonprofit – taking advantage of the free after-school programing, even volunteering at social events and food distributions.
With the encouragement of another resident and a past services coordinator, she attended and graduated from a Certified Community Health Worker program. It was there that she displayed her passion for social services.
Although she had been out of the workforce for many years and was wary of her skill set, Sandra applied to be a service coordinator for the region.
And she got the job.
Since she secured her role, Sandra has begun her academic journey as well – currently in school to acquire an associate’s degree in social work while juggling her full-time job as a single mother of 4.
Within a year, Sandra’s impact has been felt throughout the communities she serves.
“In my 11 years at Hope, this is the best work that I have ever seen on the Rialto properties,” said Sandra Bowers, Hope through Housing regional director. “The reason she has been able to do so well is because of how connected she is to the residents. She is consistent, always trying to meet their needs and is a team player. That impact she is bringing is amazing.”
