We are proud to recognize Life Science Cares as our Community Partner of the Year, celebrating the organization’s commitment to providing an array of emergency and support services to help our residents thrive.

Life Science Cares was founded in 2016 by a consortium of life science executives and companies to eliminate the impacts of poverty in Boston, Philadelphia, the Bay Area, New York and San Diego.

Hope through Housing partnered with Life Science Cares in 2023 after the team awarded us a $50,000 grant. That grant made a massive impact for our residents, providing them with the means to pay utilities, afford food and hygiene products and cover outstanding rent debt.

Since then, our bonds have grown even deeper. We recently received a large donation of blankets, books, stuffed animals and kiddie wagons for our residents.

“The partnership between Life Science Cares San Diego and Hope through Housing has significantly impacted our local community, providing essential services to residents in need,” said Alicia Kitagawa, executive director of Life Science Cares. “Together, we are not just providing immediate relief but also building a foundation for longterm growth and empowerment for San Diego residents.”

Beyond these donations, Life Science Cares and Hope through Housing are preparing for a science fair in 2025, aimed at providing career pathways for our after-school program participants.

This event will give our children a chance to meet face to face with executives and workers in the biotechnology and life science industries.

As we present this award for Community Partner of the Year, we extend our deepest gratitude to Life Science Cares for their dedication and support to making sure our residents flourish.
