We are thrilled to announce the San Diego Community Housing Corporation (SDCHC) as our San Diego Development Partner of the Year. This award recognizes the singular contributions of this extraordinary organization in developing stellar affordable housing communities across San Diego County.

National CORE first partnered with SDCHC in the early 2000s, when we teamed up to redevelop an aging motel into Talmadge Senior Village, a modern 91-apartment community. But the partnership became truly epic when Ted Miyahara become executive director of SDCHC in 2018. Already, National CORE and SDCHC have opened two stunning new affordable housing communities – Valley Senior in Escondido and Greenbrier Village in Oceanside. One more is set to open later this year, and four more communities are in development.

Together, we are bringing hope into every home and creating a wonderful life for our residents.

“It’s a match made in heaven,” said John Seymour, National CORE’s vice president of acquisitions for San Diego. “SDCHC has deep community connections across San Diego, brings a wealth of talent to our development efforts and perfectly complements our skillsets. They’re really good people and an absolute joy to work with.”

Ted echoed John’s perspective.

“It’s all about working with people with shared vision and good values and a mission in mind. We’re looking in the same direction. Communication has been great through it all, and that’s what makes it a great partnership with National CORE,” he said.

As we present this award, we extend our sincerest thanks to the San Diego Community Housing Corporation for their enduring partnership and commitment to our shared vision of a world where everyone enjoys access to safe, stable and affordable housing.
