More than 1,500 children from across Southern California took part in the region’s largest free youth soccer camp, hosted by the Empire Strykers in partnership with National CORE, Hope through Housing, Loma Linda University Children’s Health, the County of San Bernardino, and other local leaders.
Held from July 28 to August 1, the camp featured professional-level soccer instruction and community engagement. Dozens of Hope through Housing volunteers—including many from the Women of Hope—helped power this unforgettable event, creating an inspiring week of mentorship, teamwork, and fun for thousands of young players.
For Fontana residents like Paula and her 12-year-old daughter Camila, the free soccer camp was a unique opportunity to learn from top-level coaches.
“Camila absolutely loves soccer, and the camp is helping her become a better team player – more confident, more focused and more connected with other on the field,” Paula said. “As a single mother it’s not always easy to support her love for the sport so this helps both of us.”
The one-of-a-kind event brought professional athletes, community partners and national sponsors to provide equitable access to sports, promoting health and teamwork. Investing in our youth, inspires the next generation of leaders.
The landmark event was made possible through the commitment of volunteers from Hope through Housing, as well as partners at National CORE, Loma Linda University Children’s Health, San Bernardino County Supervisor Jesse Armendarez, Verizon, MGR Property Management, San Antonio Regional Hospital and other local leaders.
