Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – Downey and Riverside families will gain access to computers to further advance their personal and educational goals through the Hope through Housing Foundation’s Family Resilience Program. The Family Resilience Program is designed to help individuals and families improve their lives through economic/educational assistance as well as basic needs.

It is funded, in part, by a $15,000 grant from Spectrum that focuses on resident empowerment through digital access at onsite community centers. The funds will be used to purchase four computers at Downey View and Mission Village low-income affordable housing communities.

Hope through Housing’s goal is to provide quality shared devices with broadband access to enable residents to connect with the resources needed to increase their social and economic mobility as its Pathways to Economic Empowerment program. By combining increased digital equity with onsite afterschool programs for children, financial coaching for adults and educational classes for families and seniors, the goal is to elevate the health, well-being and self-sufficiency of residents living in affordable housing.

Hope through Housing’s mission is to help break the cycle of generational poverty. Utilizing onsite community centers and long-standing relationships with residents living within National CORE affordable apartment communities, it can deliver resources and support right where residents live. Hope through Housing offers services to more than 8,000 households and 24,000 residents.

Hope through Housing has four specific additional areas of focus.

The Connections to Care program supports senior residents with mental and physical health programs, social connectedness and financial aid, as well as a host of services that include transit support, disaster preparedness and aid in obtaining benefits. The Building Bright Futures initiative offers elementary to middle school students a safe, inclusive environment and daily support within 30 community centers. The Pathways to Economic Empowerment program supports financial literacy and economic mobility for adults. In partnership with its housing partner, National CORE, the foundation’s Unlocking Opportunities program also provides a stable living environment for individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
