Appointment Kicks Off Major Effort to Expand Reach and Impact of Foundation
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – Ciriaco “Cid” Pinedo today was named President of the Hope through Housing Foundation, which provides life-transforming human services for one of the largest and most respected nonprofit community builders in the United States.
Pinedo had served as Chief Operating Officer for National Community Renaissance (National CORE), which manages nearly 9,000 affordable, senior and special-needs housing units across four states. In his new role, he will continue to serve National CORE as Senior Vice President for Public Affairs.
Pinedo brings more than 25 years of experience in the human services arena, and is highly respected for his innovation and community focus. Before joining National CORE in 2014, he was associate superintendent of business services and economic development for the Chaffey Community College District.
The role of President is a new position, designed to strengthen Hope through Housing’s impact in the communities it serves. During the past two decades, Hope through Housing has provided more than 2 million hours of human services for National CORE residents and surrounding neighborhoods, including preschool and afterschool programs, senior wellness services and special needs assistance. More recently, the organization has launched “Family Opportunity Centers,” which provide training in financial literacy, job retention and how to move toward home ownership.
“Cid Pinedo’s experience and leadership in working with educational, nonprofit, church, government and business organizations will be instrumental as we expand the reach of Hope through Housing to even better serve our residents and communities,” said Steve PonTell, President and Chief Executive Officer of National CORE.

Pinedo noted research from the Southern California Association of Governments showing one in four children living in poverty.
“If we’re going to get serious about addressing the crisis, providing life-changing services at the community level is absolutely essential,” he said.
Pinedo is well known for his leadership and community building. During his years at Chaffey College, he was responsible for the direction of the college district’s economic and workforce development programs as well as business services. He managed the district’s $230 million bond program, and led the external relations functions for legislative, governmental, foundation and alumni programs.
Pinedo received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy at St. John’s Seminary, and completed his doctoral studies in organizational leadership at the University of La Verne. He serves on the boards of the Los Angeles County Fair Association, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and Bright Prospect. He also is former chairman of the city of La Verne Planning Commission.
