Jordan Luzzi holds himself to a high standard – especially as a way to acknowledge how much his family and teachers have given to ensure he succeeds.

“I found myself lacking in my studies early on in school, but the persistence of my high school teachers allowed me to develop new goals for myself and always put forth my best effort because they showed they believed in me,” he said.

“My parents also greatly motivate me to do well in my studies, especially my mom, because of how hard she works in her own life. It doesn’t matter what she is going through, or how stressed she is, she always wakes up with a positive attitude and makes my life better every day.”

Jordan attended Esperanza High School in Placentia and participated in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program. He plans to attend Fullerton College in the fall, as a first step to enrolling at Cal State Fullerton and pursuing a degree in business.

“My specific career path is still up in the air, but I have been very interested in working as a financial analyst or something else in the business field,” he said.

His decision to stay close to home is driven by a desire to save money and remain within a supportive environment.

“I chose to stay close to my family because I know they will always be there for me if I need their help,” he said. “A big goal of mine is to be able to give back to my family in return for everything that they have done for me.”

The Hope through Housing Foundation is supporting Jordan on his journey, awarding him a laptop as part of the organization’s 2024 Building Bright Futures Scholarship program. Jordan is one of 10 students to receive laptops. This computer will enable him to excel in his studies in business and finance and pursue his interest in learning Spanish and exploring cultural history.
